Word for Wednesday – Eulogy

/yoo-luh-jee/

  2. high praise or commendation

Like many people, I was shocked and deeply saddened when Mal announced the news of the passing of M from Cammies on The Floor. This isn’t the first tribute to M that members of our community have left, and I’m positive it won’t be the last.

Given the shock that came of the loss of her sister, A, all too recently, M‘s passing is that little bit harder to come to terms with and process.

We never met. Our only interaction was through this community of ours, sharing our words and pictures on our blogs, and chatting on Twitter.

M‘s photos were always wonderfully composed and exquisitely executed. Her words depicted a warm-hearted, thoughtful and caring person with a wonderful sense of humour and an eye for the ridiculous.

As fellow sufferers from the often debilitating illness that is depression, she often gave me support that she was almost certainly unaware she was giving. I considered her a friend in life and her memory lives on, both through her blog and through the comments she left on the blogs of others. Her life was a vibrantly coloured thread in the rich tapestry of life, and those that knew her and remember her will cherish her memory.

My deepest condolences and warmest thoughts go out to her family and loved ones.

The light of her star may have gone out, but her memory shines a bright as a supernova.

RIP M, your own journey is at an end, but those of us who knew you, still carry you with us.

  1. I’ve been away for a while for personal reasons, and this was one of the first things I see on my return. Such a sad, sad, terrible loss.

  2. Lovely heartfelt words. Its so sad that we often have no idea how our lives touch others in the day to day. Sending you virtual hugs (if permitted), ZeN. Regards, Indie
