2018 – The Highlights

Share Our ShitSo, here we are again; Another year (very nearly) consigned to the history books. A year that, in common with all years, has had its share of highs and lows, good and bad. Whether you have been a long time follower or have only discovered me during the past 12 months, I would just like to say thank you for accompanying me on the journey so far.

The Highlights

The first challenge, every year, is simply just gathering up the oompf to keep going, For me there is always a decision to be made as to whether I should continue blogging or, perhaps, step back and let the community continue with me just acting as an observer or occasional commenter. As it turned out, in 2018, I decided that I still had an active contribution to make and, as it turns out, that contribution has been very well recieved; much more so that I would ever have anticipated, and for which I am both extremely grateful and humbled.

The lovely Kayla Lords chose to feature my photos as the prompt for #MasturbationMonday on four occasions:

I had the pleasure of doing the round-up for Week 203, where I chose the following entries:

Two of my posts were included in the #MasturbationMonday round-ups:

I have been a participant in #SinfulSunday, hosted by the wonderful Molly Moore, since 2015. I am always in awe of the qualtiy of the photography of my fellow contributors, so I am always surprised and especially grateful when one of my images makes the weekly top 5. This year, I somehow managed to blag entries on this list with the following posts:

I had the pleasure of doing the round-up for Week 362, where I chose the following entries:

This year, the lovely Marie Rebelle asked me to compile the #WickedWednesday round-up for both Week 306 and Week 341. The posts I chose were:

Throught the year, we bloggers like to share the works of others in our community via the hashtag #SoSS (Share our Shit Saturday/Sunday). Given that there are a considerable (and growing) number of bloggers who are producing high quality material on a range of topics, it always surprises me that anyone would consider my work for inclusion. However, 2018 saw a number of my posts included in the #SoSS posts of my fellow bloggers:

As the year draws to a close, a number of bloggers compile their lists of their favourite blogs from the previous 12 months. My own Naughty List is an example of such. At the risk of repeating myself, there are so many great blogs out there that to be included on any of the various “Top Lists” is an achievement, so this year I was both honoured and humbled to be included on:

Finally, 2018 was the year where I managed to meet the fabulous trio of bloggers that are kisungura (My ControlledAscent), Indigo Byrd (Midnight At the Oaisis) and Tabitha Rayne. I still haven’t worked out if it’s more impressive that Indie had to travel all the way from Australia to meet me (and a fair number of other bloggers) or that it has taken Tabitha and I about 5 years to meet despite living about 15 minutes apart from each other.

So, there we have it. If you’ve got this far then, well done. Those have been the highlights of my 2018 blogging year.

All that remains is to wish everyone a wonderful 2019 and hope that it brings far more joys than sorrows.

Lang may yer lum reek…

  1. Love it! Thanks for the mention mate. I do know what you mean about the push and pull of blogging – since I returned I’ve been struggling with that one a lot, but getting mentions from you and other fave bloggers in the end of year round ups has been a lovely end to the year. All the best for 2019.
Who knows what the New Year will usher in…
    Indie xx
